True North Woods Dog Sledding Experience
$339 per Adult
$259 per child under 12 yrs old
(must be accompanied by an adult)
3 Hour Experience
You’ll be immersed in the lifestyle of a north woods dog musher once you arrive at our off-grid homestead tucked away in the remote wilderness of Minnesota’s Arrowhead Region. This promises to be an experience of a lifetime!
The Points Unknown sled dogs are friendly and exuberant and always up for adventure and meeting new people. You’ll not only be taken by dog sled for an adventure on our bush trails deep in the woods but you’ll learn how to properly interact with the sled dogs, collar them, bring them to the ready line, harness them and hook them up to the sled before hopping in the sled for your adventure. For those dog lovers, there will be plenty of cuddle time with the sled dogs. Please note that you will not be learning to mush a sled dog team in this experience as there is not enough time to safely learn the techniques and safety aspects involved. You will be riding in the sled.
We’re located 7 miles up the Arrowhead Trail on Irish Creek Road in Hovland, which is 19 miles northeast of Grand Marais, MN, USA. Directions are here.
The dog sledding experience will be 3 hours in length. We have two time slots available: 9AM-12Noon and 1:00PM-4:00PM, each day. If you’ve chosen the morning adventure, please arrive in the parking area by 9AM to take full advantage of your time with us. If you’re a late riser, not a problem! Just know that we need to let our dogs rest and fuel ourselves between 12Noon and 1PM in preparation for our afternoon adventure so your time in the dog yard will be limited.
Safety
Prior to your experience, we’ll chat with you about what you can expect, and to see if you have any special needs of which we need to be aware, all done so that your time with us can be most fulfilling. Here is a list of what to wear.
For optimal trail time, we suggest no more than 4 people in each time slot. However, we can tailor the adventure to your group, so let’s chat! For the safety and enjoyment of the dogs, the musher, and you, there is a weight limit in place of 275# per sled. No more than two people per sled. (1 adult/1 child, 2 smaller adults or 1 person in each sled)
Children under 5 can meet the dogs. However, children under 5-years-old will not be allowed to ride in the sled.

Cancellation Policy
We hope you’ll understand that we likely had to turn down others that wanted a Points Unknown experience at the very same time you have scheduled yours. We do need to be able to count on your reservation. If you do need to cancel, please do so as soon as you can so that we can open your adventure to others that might be waiting. Additionally, if cancellation does not take place prior to 30 days of your scheduled adventure, we will retain the entire adventure fee unless we are able to book your time slot within that time period. Trips that are canceled due to hazardous weather or dangerous driving conditions from your local accommodations will be fully refunded. Cancellation policy applies to gift certificates, as well. If you booked during the holiday tour season that takes place between December 24th and January 5th or have booked a customized group experience, you have prepaid and a credit will be provided if there is a significant snow event making it impossible for you to make it to Points Unknown from your local accommodations or in the unlikely event that there is not enough snow for your adventure. If not enough snow, there is a wheeled option with sled dogs available where we use our 4 seater UTV that is used for our Fall & Spring tours.
